New European Logistics Centre Opens
|
April, 2006 |
KYB Europe has officially opened a new European logistics and distribution
centre at Eragny/Oise in north west Paris.
KYB is the world's largest OE supplier of shock absorbers, and its new
facility will help optimise its European logistics. The 10,000 mē site
offers a stock capacity twice as large as the previous warehouse and provides
space for 20,000 pallets.
The new warehouse will hold some 5,000 product references, covering more
than 98% of the European car parc and includes:
- over 3,500 shock absorber references
- over 1,000 coil spring references
- approximately 100 mounting kit references
Hajime Sato, Managing Director of KYB Europe says: "The new facility is
designed to hold sufficient stock to provide our customers with continuous
availability, even during times of fluctuating demand, and we estimate
a quarterly stock turnover of around 1.2 million shock absorbers."
With the new centre, KYB Europe is renewing its commitment to logistics
and increasing its support to the constantly evolving aftermarket. To
provide excellent levels of customer service, the new warehouse has been
equipped with 'Spidy', an I.T. programme designed to increase accuracy
and productivity when managing both incoming and outgoing stock.
"Errors have largely been eliminated since we began using this new system,
and we have had very positive feedback from both our domestic and export
customers." explains Mr Sato.
The new site will employ 15 people to manage the facility who will work
alongside KYB's existing 25 employees in France.
In addition to the new centre in France, KYB also operates three additional
warehouses across Europe, in Germany, which supplies products to eastern
and northern Europe, Spain which covers the Iberian peninsular, and at
Warrington in the UK to supply Great Britain and Ireland.
