KYB Takes To The Skies With Boeing

KYB, best known for its automotive shock absorbers, supplies the aircraft
maker, Boeing, to provide components for the Boeing 777-200LR Worldliner
- the world's longest range commercial aeroplane.
KYB has been supplying parts to Boeing for over 10 years, successfully
transferring its hydraulic engineering expertise between aviation and
automotive shock absorber technologies. The company is now supplying a
number of different components for the aircraft's landing gear including
lock, door and down lock hydraulic cylinders, as well as brake accumulators
and tail skid actuators, all designed to provide the 'plane with the lightweight
and precise control equipment required for smooth, safe landings.
The 777-200LR (Longer Range), the fifth 777 model, is capable of connecting
virtually any two cities in the world non-stop. In service it can carry
301 passengers and their baggage up to 9,240 nautical miles (17,445 kilometres).
The first 777-200LR was delivered to Pakistan International Airlines in
January.
KYB also supplies suspension systems for a variety of other diverse applications,
including the Shinkansen Bullet train in Japan and seismic isolation systems
for skyscrapers, designed to reduce damaging sway in high winds and earthquakes.
KYB has recently expanded its automotive aftermarket operations in Europe
with new logistics and distribution centres near Paris and is continuing
to develop its global reach with a new facilities in Dubai and Russia.
