Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan
I offer my prayers to all those who lost their lives in the Earthquake and Tsunami in the north east of Japan on 11th March, as well as my sympathy to the survivors and their families.
I would like to advise you of the current situation in Japan and effect on our business in Europe.
1. Damage to KYB Group in Japan
There is no critical or serious damage to our facilities in Japan, only small cracks on the walls in some buildings. Fortunately none of our employees suffered.
KYB Japan has established procedures for emergency disaster control, to check all damage and respond as necessary to recover all operations. However, we have received reports of damage from our customers and partners in the north part of Japan. We will investigate how this may influence our business.
2. Effect on Business of KYB Europe
Our shock absorber factory has temporarily stopped production, because some component suppliers are based in the north. We hope to resume production later this month. However, I would like to advise that it does not affect our business in Europe because KYB Europe purchases products not only from Japan but also seven other KYB factories around the world.
Furthermore, we have enough product in our warehouses in Germany, France, UK and Spain and additionally two new warehouses (in Germany and Poland) opened in autumn 2010. We can provide better service levels and orderfill (and product quality) in 2011 than 2010.
I very much regret any cause for concern you may have about our company.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation,
KYB Europe GmbH
