Standard Care Instructions For Gas & Gas-A-Just

Caution

  1. Care must be taken when you handle or scrap this type of shock absorber, due to high pressure gas contained in them.
  2. Avoid fire or flame. Do not dismantle. Do not use torch. Do not puncture or incinerate. Do not damage the shock absorber tube of Gas-A Just as the piston rod cannot move smoothly due to the 'mono tube' construction.

Installation

For shock absorber with plastic retainer band

  1. Remove or cut the retainer band and then install.

For shock absorber with retainer string (Fig. A).

  1. Do not untie or cut the retainer string (1) until upper mounting has been completed and securely tightened.
  2. Then release the retainer string (1) by pulling the loose end (2) and hold on to string (3)
  3. As shock absorber extends, due to gas pressure, guide lower mount into position.
  4. Remove the retainer string (1) and leather holder (4) completely and tighten all parts securely

When Scrapping

Only scrap a used shock absorber after exhausting the nitrogen gas as follows:

  1. Put shock absorber into a vinyl bag with a hole in one corner and drill a hole of approx. 2-3 mm into the tube as shown in Fig. B and Fig. C (refer to Fig. B for Gas-A-Just and Fig. C for Super).
  2. If a vinyl bag is not available, wear safety glasses to prevent the eyes from being contaminated by oil and metal chips being blown out of the drilled hole pressurised nitrogen.
