Fitting Instructions

Caution

1. Remove only one strut assembly from the car at a time.
2. Place all the mounting parts on one side in the exact order as they are removed, so that you can re-assemble all these parts later in the reverse order.
3. Broken and/or damaged dust cover to be replaced with new one.
4. When tightening the top piston rod nut, be careful that the wrench does not touch and damage the piston rod, as damage to this rod will cause oil leakage of the unit.
5. Nuts and bolts must be tightened to the specified torque as recommended by the car manufacturer. All other nuts and bolts must also be secured.
6. If necessary, bleed the air from the breaking system. Ensure the brake fluid reservoir is refilled to the correct level.

Dismantling

1. Mark the position of the upper bearing plate (1) so that it can be reassembled in the same position.
2. The coil spring (2) must be compressed be a suitable spring compressor before the strut assembly can be dismantled.
3. Remove the nuts and bolts (3) retaining the strut assembly to the stub axle.
4. Unscrew the remaining upper bearing plate nuts and then remove the strut assembly from the car.
5. After checking that the coil spring (2) has been compressed, remove the top piston rod nut (5) and all the mounting parts.

Installation

1. Assemble all the remaining mounting parts in the correct order and ensure that they are all tightened and secured.
2. Remount the strut assembly on the car reversing the procedure for dismantling.
3. Make sure that the upper bearing plate (1) is positioned in the original marked position.
